It was already confirmed on NFL Network and ESPN that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not start their rookie quarterback Josh Freeman. Why the hell not? Freeman declared for the draft a year early and the team is afraid that Freeman might screw up this year. Coach Raheem Morris wants him to learn from the other two quarterbacks, Bryon Leftwich and Luke McCown.

So with Freeman out of this discussion, who should the Bucs start at quarterback. Who shall it be: McCown or Leftwich? Yesterday, Morris said he would make his decision on who to start. He didn't. He was leaning toward Leftwich, but after McCown's performance in that pre-season game a couple of days ago, the competition still hasn't ended. It's a tough decision, but in my opinion, it just has to be Leftwich.

Leftwich has been played at the role of starter many times before, most notably in his stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, until David Garrard took his place. Last year, Leftwich was moved to play as a backup quarterback to Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Leftwich was remarkable as a backup and showed that he should be named a starter again.

McCown wasn't able to do anything last year, ending up with a 39.6 quarterback rating. But the year before that, McCown had numerous amount of times playing, throwing for over 1,000 yards. He had a good year, but it wasn't all that superior. Leftwich has more knowledge of the game. If I were Raheem Morris, it would most certainly be that my pick would have to Leftwich.

If McCown was named starter, not many things will turn out good. And besides, it was just a preseason game in what McCown performed well in. In my mind, Leftwich would be a perfect fit. What do you think? Comment below and let your voice be heard!
