Ben Patrick recently unretired from the NFL, but was cut by the eventual Super-Bowl champion Giants back in training camp this season. However, that doesn't stop the former Arizona Cardinals' tight end for being a hero.

According to AZ Family, Patrick helped rescue people trapped in a van along Interstate 17 near Black Canyon. Patrick saw a van laying on the side with people trapped in it. He even smelled gas leaking.

"My first thought was just to help the people on the inside," he said.

He eventually helped everyone out of the van.

"I ran over and I looked in the front window and everybody was laying sideways and I debated on kicking the window in, but I didn't want to get glass over everyone," he said.

What a great thing he did, and very risky, too.

Patrick hasn't played a game since 2010 when he was with the Cards, but he did say that he could sign with the Carolina Panthers this off-season. The 27-year-old has 45 catches for 446 yards along with four touchdowns for his career, including an appearance in Super Bowl XLIII.

Just a great thing by Patrick for doing what's right.
