Team USA looks like it will be pretty slim now at the center/power forrwad position with the recent injuries to Dwight Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge for the London Olympics this summer.

Then there is also the performance of Lamar Odom along with Andrew Bynum not looking to play in this year's Olympics due to keeping his knees healthy.

And with Derrick Rose also out, they'll also a need a center who can be a pretty good scorer as well.

Currently, Tyson Chandler remains as the only guy right now at center. With that, Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins voiced his opinion that he would like to play for the USA national team this summer. Cousins was pretty solid overall this season, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Writes the Sacramento Bee:
Cousins, in a typically candid postgame conversation, said he hoped to be invited to Las Vegas, and if so, expected to make the final roster. Like, um, the 2012 Olympic roster. "I mean, who wouldn't want to play for Team USA?" he said. "Go over there and represent your country. I would love to do it."

Asked if he would be willing to go to Las Vegas strictly as an invitee with the Select Team, comprised of players chosen to challenge Team USA in scrimmages and practices, influencing the likelihood of their own future Olympic appearances, the Kings second-year center added: "I feel like if I did go play for the Select Team, I probably would get a spot (on the Olympic team). Honestly ... but we'll see."
I think Team USA should give him look, as he is coming off a pretty good sophomore season.

Another player I think the national team will look to consider is Roy Hibbert, who is arguably the best center in the Eastern Conference right now with Howard out.

We'll see what happens, but it's clear the center position is a need.
