The back-and-forth battle between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been relentless.

On Thursday, Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka fired another shot when he stated “the Giants have been whupping the Cowboys' ass for a long time now.”

Jones responded to Kiwanuka, and sounded a little humbled, according to a report made by NFL.com on Friday.

“I agree with him, and the only thing I’m saying is that I’ll never get used to it,” Jones said. “It is tough (being) on the outside looking in. That’s the way I felt when I got in the NFL as an owner. I didn’t want to be on the outside, looking in.

“The Giants are an inspiration … it is opening the NFL season in front of such a high-profile forum …the Wednesday night game, all of that is there. We have that kind of respect for them.”

I think Jones is trying to put the brakes on the runaway train that has been his mouth. The season-opener is less than a week away and we all get the point: the Giants are the team to beat.

Jones want to beat their ass. Let the games begin.
