It looks like the three-way quarterback battle in Seattle quickly has deteriorated into a two-man battle.

NFL.com is reporting that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced that incumbent starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson will not see any time in this weekend’s preseason game.

Newly signed free agent Matt Flynn will get the work in the first half, with recently drafted Russell Wilson taking over in the second half and finishing the ballgame.

You have to feel sorry for Jackson, who was promised to not be jerked around again when he signed with Seattle last off-season.

The impressive play of the poised rookie Wilson has all but made Jackson expendable barring an injury. Wilson’s play has been so impressive that some are calling for him to get ample opportunity with the first-team offense.

Wilson was drafted to be the future and depending on how well Flynn does to start the season off, that future could come sooner than later.
