Marcus Allen was a legendary running back on the Raiders. The Hall-of-Famer spent his career in Los Angeles with the Raiders, though he was initially drafted by "Oakland" in 1982. Los Angeles hasn't had an NFL franchise in about two decades since the Raiders and Rams. There have been talks over the past several years of a team coming back to LA, but nothing has happened. Allen believes the Raiders should return to LA. "
I know people in Oakland won't like this," Allen said. "I think it's a viable option. ... We can't have them back at the [Los Angeles Memorial] Coliseum; the Coliseum is now USC's home. ... But there's some locations there that I know I've talked to a few owners [about] and I know that they've liked. I can't divulge my sources, though." Reports say the league has been looking at spots in LA to build a stadium for whatever NFL team would go there. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he wouldn't mind an NFL franchise in Los Angeles. "I think [NFL owners] collectively [are] very concerned that we don't have at least one team in downtown L.A., and would like to do everything they can to help facilitate that happening," he said. The Raiders were recently given a suggestion from commissioner Roger Goodell on if they would
share the new Levi's Stadium with the San Francisco 49ers. That will likely not happen, and Allen agrees. "That's not the Raiders," Allen said. "The Raiders don't share things. ... I don't think Al would like it, I can say that right now. He wouldn't be happy at all because to him, it's the Raiders and 31 other teams." Allen starred in LA since his college days, and believes it's finally time for an NFL franchise to return to the city. "I just think it's ripe right now, being the second-largest market and being the entertainment capital of the world, it's almost necessary to have a team there," Allen said. "And I think with the corporate support and the [Raiders] brand that has already been there, that's been established, that has a huge following, I think it's be a no-brainer."
