Written by Giants27The 2000 NFL Draft will always be remembered as the one that produced the immortal Tom Brady.
But for some they remember it for their team taking Chad Pennington or Marc Bulger.
And for the rest they remember the fact that Brady fell to the sixth round and their team took a quarterback who's not even a pro anymore.
In the following slides I take a look at all 12 quarterbacks taken in the 2000 NFL Draft in order of draft position.
Round One, Pick 18 - Chad Pennington
Chad Pennington was selected by the New York Jets with the 18th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Pennington was with New York's other team from 2000-2007. His best year coming in 2006.
During the 2006 season he had 3,352 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and a 82.6 quarterback rating and earned Comeback Player of the Year honors.
However in August 2008 following the acquisition veteran Brett Favre, the Jets released Pennington.
Pennington went on to sign with divison rival Miami and put up 3,653 yards, 19 touchdowns and a 97.4 quarterback rating leading the Dolphins to the playoffs following a 1-15 season.
Round Three, Pick 65 - Giovanni Carmazzi
Giovanni Carmazzi was the 65th overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers and spent the 2000 and 2001 season on the 49ers bench.
His first game action didn't come in America but in Europe after being allocated to the Rhein Fire.
After spending 2002 and 2003 out of football he joined the BC Lions in 2004 and then the Calgary Stampeders in 2005.
Round Three, Pick 75 - Chris Redman
Chris Redman was the 75th overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens.
During four years with Baltimore he compiled 1,111 passing yards, seven touchdowns and a 62.0 quarterback rating.
In 2005 he spent time with the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans during the offseason.
After spending 2006 out of football he joined the Arena Football League's Austin Wranglers for 2007 but never played as his former head coach at Louisville, Bobby Petrino wanted him to come to Atlanta.
Being forced into the starting job following Michael Vick's arrest, Redman put up 1,079 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and a 90.4 passer rating.
In 2008 he was forced to the bench when super rookie Matt Ryan was named starter.
Round Five, Pick 163 - Tee Martin
Tee Martin was the 163rd pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After only recording rushing yards for the Steelers in 2000 and 2001, he was let go and joined the Philadelphia Eagles.
Upon arriving with the Eagles he was allocated to the Rhein Fire and not re-signed for 2003.
In 2003, he joined Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders and had a career year having 69 passing yards, zero touchdowns and a 25.3 passer rating in two backup appearances.
After not receiving any NFL interest, Martin decided to cross the border and join the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
With Winnipeg he was 40-95, had 458 passing yards, one touchdown, four interceptions and a 43.2 passer rating. After the 2005 season he retired from professional football.
After the 2008 season he was hired by the University of New Mexico to be the quarterbacks coach in 2009.
Round Six, Pick 168 - Marc Bulger
Marc Bulger was the 168th pick by the New Orleans Saints.
Bulger who was the other successful quarterback taken in the sixth round has been a two-time pro bowler and the MVP of the Pro Bowl in 2004.
After being selected by the Saints and spending time with them on their practice squad he was signed by the St. Louis Rams in 2001.
During his time with the Rams he has had 21,345 passing yards, 117 touchdowns, and an 85.6 passer rating.
Clearly he was a steal being selected this late in the draft and he was another New Orleans Saints quarterback screwup with Jake Delhomme being the other.
Round Six, Pick 183 - Spergon Wynn
Spergon Wynn was the 183rd overall pick by the Cleveland Browns.
Easily considered the worst pick of the draft but not because of Wynn himself but mainly because Tom Brady was selected a mere 16 picks later.
In 2000 he had 167 passing yards, a 0-1 touchdown to interception rating, and a 41.2 passer rating in seven games with one start.
After not being re-signed after 2000 he joined the Minnesota Vikings for 2001 and 2002.
In his only action as a Viking he had 418 yards, one touchdown, six interceptions and a 38.6 rating. He started two games and came in as a backup for one.
After his Viking stint he jas spent time with the BC Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.
