The Indiana Pacers recently hired former Lakers' assistant head coach, Brian Shaw, to the Pacers' staff. He will be in as the associate head coach, helping out new head coach, Frank Vogel, who helped turned Indiana from the bottom of the East to a playoff appearance.

Bringing in Shaw is a huge addition, who was favored by the Lakers' roster to become to the head coach. However, Mike Brown was hired instead. Shaw has been with the team and most of their championship runs. He will definitely help this team out, especially since he has learned from, in my opinion, the greatest coach of all-time in Phil Jackson.

“It’s a home run,’’ Vogel said of the Shaw hire. “He’s just a guy who brings positive energy to our team and toughness as well. He’s a great guy, he’s a workaholic, and he’s the perfect fit for me right now in my situation as the head coach.’’

I'm still surprised Indiana brought in such a high-class guy to Indiana. This team is really heading into the right direction since the off-season began. It started out with the George Hill move, and now the hiring of Vogel and Shaw.

“There was interest from a lot of other places in the league and I just said, ‘This is a guy I need to bring in here. That is who we need,’’’ Vogel said. “We brought him in here, and we talked about our team and what we’re building here, and we showed him the community and he really fell in love with the whole big picture.’’

It's just great. Indiana has also reportedly hired former Blazers' GM, Kevin Pritchard, to help the team out a bit. With this, Indiana just has a solid staff with guys like Larry Bird, Vogel, Shaw, and Pritchard all on the team.

I think with all of them, it can lead this squad to greatness and into contenders.

Basketball is taking over Indiana once again.
