Although he tried to avoid it, Rob Gronkowski went under the knife to correct his balky left ankle.

A source tells Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal that Gronkowski had successful arthroscopic ankle surgery on Friday morning.

The recovery time is expected to be 10 weeks, which may hinder his availability for the Pats’ offseason program. Though, there’s no question he’ll be fully healthy by the time training camp rolls around.

Gronkowki, New England’s record-setting tight end, originally injured the ankle during the team’s AFC Championship win against the Ravens, rendering him a non-factor in Super Bowl XLVI.

To those in Boston still sulking in defeat, never fear. Gronk should be back to cuttin’ up rugs in no time. Yo soy fiesta, indeed.
