According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have restructured wide receiver Chad Ochocinco's contract today. The 34-year-old took a pay-cut of $2 million, which now leaves his base salary at $1 million.

Ochocinco struggled a lot last season in his first year as a Patriot, only catching 15 passes for 276 yards and a touchdown. He was brought in to be a major playmaker, only to be a backup man.

The deal today comes as a surprise to many, as he was expected to be cut. However, New England looks to continue working with him.

With this, New England has a solid trio of receivers now for Tom Brady; with guys like Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Anthony Gonzalez, and Deion Branch already on the team. Also, not to mention Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez as the playmaking tight ends.
