Indiana Pacers' Larry Bird has officially won the NBA Executive of the Year. He won by 32 votes over the San Antonio Spurs' R.C. Buford.

Bird built the team strategically through the draft (Roy Hibbert, Danny Granger, Paul George, Tyler Hansbrough), free agency (David West), and strategic trades (George Hill, Darren Collison).

Bird and the rest of the Pacers management didn't go out and sign a star and instead they did it slowly and surely and it has turned out good for them.

This figures to be Bird's last season with the Pacers as all signs point to him retiring after this season. If the rumor is true, what a way for Bird to go out.
