The Los Angeles Clippers have decided to pick up their option on Vinny Del Negro, which means he will stay as head coach for another season.
Del Negro has so far been 72-76 since he was hired in 2010. Del Negro had a pretty good season with the Clippers this year, helping them reach the playoffs with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin leading the way.
Los Angeles went 40-26 this season under him, but they eventually got swept in the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs.
To some, this move by Los Angeles comes as a surprise. Del Negro has been questioned sometimes of his leadership and has also been criticized several times.
However, it's understandable to retain him, as he helped bring the best win-percentage for the team in a regular season ever. Along with that, after losing three consecutive games in March, Del Negro responded to the critics by going 13-2 afterwards.
