The Portland Trail Blazers' general manager search is starting to wind down and it's down to two candidates.

Those two are Jeff Bower of the New Orleans Hornets and David Morway of the Indiana Pacers. The Trail Blazers fired their general manager, Richard Cho, less than a year after appointing him to that position.

The odds-on favorite, according to reports, is Morway. He has slowly built Indiana into a contending team in the NBA alongside with former Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird.

They didn't take the easy way out by going and signing stars to massive contracts; they did it through the draft and strategic trades. There were a lot of growing pains for fans and players alike, but it is starting to pay off in Indiana.

Morway met with Blazers management last week and met with owner Paul Allen today. Morway will do wonders for the Blazers if he's hired.

Morway would be a dire loss for the Pacers, but they could have former Portland general manager and now director of player personnel for Indiana in Kevin Pritchard to step in.

He runs his team in a unorthodox and methodical way. He builds it up slowly, like a Michelangelo sculpture. If I were Allen, I would hire this man right away to be the GM of the team.

The search for a new general manager for Portland will be winding down probably in the next few weeks. Allen should make the smart move here and pick the odds on favorite in Morway to be the new general manager.
