Four-star defensive end Andrew Trumbetti has committed to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over this past weekend, according to multiple sources.
The 6-5, 250-pound prospect from Demarest (NJ) High School chose the Notre Dame over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Michigan State, Stanford and Virginia, among others.
"It felt like he was really listing other schools and he had gone down to Florida and loved it,” Demarest coach Tony Mottola said, “but I felt his heart has always been at Notre Dame. When he was there this weekend and he sat down with Coach [Brian] Kelly and Coach [Bob] Diaco and met the guys, it was going to be tough for him to get out of there this weekend without some type of decision.
Scout.com ranks Trumbetti No. 19 overall at the defensive end position and he is also featured on ESPN's watch list.
The Fighting Irish have five pledges for 2014.
