josh-mccown-bears-cowboys-december-2013Either Josh McCown is really really good, or the Dallas Cowboys defense is really really bad.

Or both.

McCown torched the Dallas defense all game long, throwing for throwing for 348 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes in the Chicago Bears' 45-28 drubbing of the Cowboys on Monday night.

The 34-year-old McCown has been more than good since taking over for Jay Cutler — he’s been great. McCown’s 78.4 QBR is second to only... Peyton Manning. That’s crazy.

McCown also ran for a score, completed 75 percent of his passes and compiled a 141.9 rating. The Bears scored on every single one of its offensive possessions in the game (not including a kneel down to end the game), and racked up 498 yards of total offense.

With the win, the Bears are now in a first-place tie atop the NFC North with the Detroit Lions, while the Cowboys fall one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

The game was tied at 14 with under two minutes to go in the first half. A Robbie Gould field goal made it 17-14, and with 17 seconds left in the half, Alshon Jeffrey made an unbelievable catch between two defenders in the corner of the end zone that gave Chicago a 24-14 lead entering the half.

alshon-jeffery-catch-vs-cowboysIn total, the Bears scored 28 unanswered points to take a 42-14 lead early in the 4th quarter. The Cowboys added two garbage time touchdowns, but the game was already well in doubt.

Along with McCown, Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall all had huge games. Forte ran for 102 yards, and added 73 yards receiving. Marshall caught six passes for 100 yards, and Jeffrey had five receptions for 84 yards with a touchdown.

DeMarco Murray was the lone bright spot for the Cowboys. Murray torched the NFL’s worst rush defense for 145 yards, while averaging a staggering 8.1 yards per carry.

Dallas is now in severe danger of falling out of the NFC East race since Aaron Rodgers is likely to make his return next Sunday when the Packers visit the Cowboys.

The Bears travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns, and there’s a chance Jay Cutler could also be set to return.
