ravens-touchdown-vs-vikings-2013Sunday, December 8 will go down as the craziest day of the 2013 NFL season.

There were snow storms all along the East coast, six touchdowns scored in the 4th quarter in Baltimore, a near Steel City miracle — oh, and only a new record for the most touchdowns scored in one day.

Steelers Vs Dolphins

Miami started out of the gate fast jumping out to a 17-7 lead early in the third quarter.

Pittsburgh came back to score 14 unanswered points to go up 21-17. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Ben Roethlisberger hit Jerricho Cotchery to give Pittsburgh a 28-24 lead, which would last over 11 minutes.

Miami was finally able to respond after Charles Clay broke free of a sure Troy Polumalu tackle to get into the end zone. The Dolphins went up 31-28, and later added a field goal with 1:08 left to go up by 6.

Then on the final play of the game and the ball at the Steelers 30-yard line, Pittsburgh did its best Music City Miracle impersonation, but Antonio Brown just barely stepped out of bounds, nullifying what would have been a game-winning touchdown.

Miami held on to win, 34-28, keeping their playoff hopes alive at 7-6 and ending the Steelers' at 5-8.

Vikings Vs Ravens

ravens-vs-vikings-december-2013This was no doubt most insane final two-plus minutes in the NFL’s history.

Entering the fourth quarter, the Ravens had a 7-6 lead. Minnesota took a 12-7 lead off a Jerome Simpson touchdown catch with over 14 minutes to play. The score remained the same until there were under three minutes to play when Joe Flacco hit Dennis Pita for what appeared to be a game-winning touchdown with 2:05 remaining.

A successful extra-point gave Baltimore a 15-12 advantage. The Vikings responded 40 seconds later when Toby Gerhart exploded for a 41-yard run that gave Minnesota a 19-12 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff, Jacoby Jones returned it 77 yards for a touchdown that gave the lead back to the Ravens (22-19). No, I’m not kidding.

Then, on a third down and 10 for the Vikings, Matt Cassell hit Cordarrelle Patterson for a 79-yard touchdown catch and run with 45 seconds to play, which was plenty of time for Joe Flacco to lead the Ravens down the field.

Flacco quickly marched the Ravens all the way to the Minnesota 9-yard line. He then hit Marlon Brown in the end zone with four seconds remaining, giving the lead back to the Ravens, and this time for good.

In total, there were six touchdowns scored in the fourth quarter, five of which came with under 2:05 left to play.

Lions Vs Eagles

Lions-Eagles-December-2013Lincoln Financial Field was covered in snow, but that didn’t stop LeSean McCoy from having a record setting day. Shady McCoy set the Eagles franchise record by rushing for 217 yards. The previous record was 205 yards set by Steve Van Buren in 1949.

The Eagles would win the game 34-20, and Nick Foles finally threw his first interception of the season, which led him to fall short of Peyton Manning's record of most consecutive touchdowns thrown without a pick.

Browns Vs Patriots

josh-gordon-of-the-cleveland-browns-catches-a-pass-inThe New England Patriots had another dramatic home win, scoring 13 points in 61 seconds with the help of a highly questionable pass-interference call and an onside kick recovery to beat the Cleveland Browns, 27-26. New England is now 7-0 at home this season.
