Damian Lillard has grown into one of the NBA's young stars, and he could be taking his talents to a bigger brand like Nike as he opted out of his shoe contract with adidas,
according to CSN Northwest.
"Lillard will be able to opt out of his shoe contract at the end of the basketball season and either renegotiate a more lucrative deal with adidas, or open negotiations with Nike, Brand Jordan, Reebok or Under Armor," the report says.
Lillard signed with the brand as a rookie. He reached all the accolades to opt out of his contract, such as winning Rookie of the Year or being in this year's NBA All-Star Game. The Portland Trail Blazers rookie can maybe get his own signature shoe with adidas and demand more money, or take his talents elsewhere and do the same.
It's unknown if adidas will offer a major deal to Lillard after seeing what happened to Derrick Rose, so they may be cautious. Nike or Jordan Brand could definitely make a major run at him if that happens then.
