danny granger nick young pacers lakers 2014

With Danny Granger now being bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers, it now leaves room for contenders to make a quick grab at the veteran small forward off of waivers. The Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs are believed to be the frontrunners in pursuit of Granger, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Granger was traded to the Sixers at the trade deadline, but he had no interest in playing for them. It was believed that he wanted to play for the Miami Heat or Oklahoma City Thunder, but after these recent reports, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

Granger will clear waivers within the next 48 hours, so a team like the Clippers or Spurs could definitely use him. Granger provides some nice scoring off the bench and has a solid 3-point shooting stroke.

Adding Granger could be the key element to help San Antonio or Los Angeles in the playoffs. Both could use a small forward, especially coming off the bench.

Granger is a former All-Star and Most Improved Player of the Year, having his best season as the leader of the Pacers in the 2008-09 season when he averaged about 26 points per game. He was a 20 PPG scorer over the next few seasons until suffering injuries this year and in 2013.
