mike d'antoni april 2014The Pringles man is out. Per ESPN Los Angeles, head coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned from the Lakers franchise as the team's head coach on Wednesday.

It was speculated whether the Lakers would fire him or they would continue with him as the head coach for next season. However, with many players not getting along with him, especially Kobe Bryant, he had to go.

The Lakers, in fact, refused to pay D'Antoni his $4 million team option that would have taken place for him in the 2015-16 season.

"Given the circumstances, I don't know that anybody could have done a better job than Mike did the past two seasons," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. "On behalf of the Lakers, we thank Mike for the work ethic, professionalism and positive attitude that he brought to the team every day. We wish him the best of luck."

D'Antoni was hired as the Lakers coach after the team fired Mike Brown. D'Antoni was largely unsuccessful, and the Lakers' search for a new head coach will now begin immediately.

Lakers fans can rejoice now.
