David Wilson July 2014

New York Giants running back David Wilson was just coming off a serious neck injury last year that put his NFL career at risk. Now it seems like he's back at that checkpoint after suffering what Giants head coach Tom Coughlin called a "burner" during practice.

From Jordan Raanan and Conor Orr of NJ.com:

According to multiple sources, the running back, who suffered a 'burner' during Tuesday's practice, months after undergoing spinal fusion surgery, is a long shot to return to the field.

It  gets even worse...

One person with knowledge of the running back's medical condition told NJ.com that Wilson 'needs a miracle.'

Wilson is reportedly scheduled to meet with Dr. Frank Cammisa on Monday. He was the doctor who performed the spinal fusion surgery on Wilson back in January.

It's uncertain what Wilson's true condition may be. However, the Giants are likely prepared to move on without him for the 2014 season, and perhaps after that, too.

Some say Wilson should consider retirement if this injury is truly bad enough, but we'll have to see. It would be sad to see his career cut short like that, being that he is only 23 years old.
