Rory McIlroy July 2014

Rory McIlroy won the 2014 Open Championship after shooting a 1-under 71 in the final round on Sunday. McIlroy finished with a 17-under score for the whole tournament.

McIlroy was off to a fire start from round 1, and he never stopped from there. He would finish two strokes ahead of the likes of Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler. He bested Jim Furyk by four strokes.

Garcia had a chance to make something happen until he had a bogey on the 15th. Though he did have two birdies on the last three holes, they were not enough.

McIlroy has now added another major to his record in addition to the 2011 U.S. Open and the 2012 PGA Championship. He now joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to have three different majors at 25 years old or younger.
