According to Pete McManamon of ESPN.com, Hoyer has been given the starting nod over Johnny Football on the Browns ... for now. Hoyer was shown first on the team's depth chart when they released it to the public on Tuesday.
Coach Mike Pettine said he did a depth chart because he had to and downplayed it by saying it could change after every game. He also said there are a lot of positions where he'd rather list co-starters.
Quarterback was not one of those positions, however.
"No, we listed Brian as the starter," Pettine said.
On Monday, Manziel had all of the first-team reps with the Browns. However after that, both QBs started to split until Hoyer eventually started to get the majority of the first-team reps.
"All part of the plan," Pettine said of the situation.
Only way Manziel can truly show he's the man is with solid preseason play. We'll see what he has in store for NFL fans anxiously waiting to see what he can do on the NFL gridirion for the first time ever.
