Chad Henne Blake Bortles August 2014

As expected, the Jacksonville Jaguars will open up Week 1 of the 2014 NFL regular season with Chad Henne as the starting quarterback.

Henne was named the starting QB officially by head coach Gus Bradley on Friday night following the Jags' 13-12 preseason loss to the Detroit Lions. He was named the starter over rookie first-rounder Blake Bortles.

"For our team, Chad's playing well, really well," Bradley said, via CBS. "I think he's playing really fast right now. He's showed it all during training camp and during the preseason games, so we're really excited about him."

After solid play in the preseason, it was seen that Bortles could be the starting QB. Others agreed.

However despite that, the Jaguars will remain cautious in what they will do with Bortles.

"I think Blake is doing some good things," Bradley said. "I can not argue that. He's progressing just like we had hoped through this whole thing."

Henne was 9-of-14 for 70 yards against the Lions on Friday. He has gone 25-of-38 for 230 yards and a touchdown throughout the first three weeks of this preseason. For Bortles, he has been 28-of-45 for 435 yards and a touchdown.
