Ryan Mallett August 2014

The Houston Texans probably didn't see Ryan Fitzpatrick as their answer at quarterback for this season, and it looks like there's going to be a lot of shuffling involved throughout the year.

The team introduced even more of that on Sunday when they decided to trade for New England Patriots backup QB Ryan Mallett, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Mallett was originally going to be cut by the Patriots, but the Texans decided to trade for him as the Dallas Cowboys were also in talks for the quarterback.

Mallett had been linked to the Texans back in May during the NFL Draft period, and it looks like Houston finally pulled the trigger after three months.

We'll see if Mallett ends up becoming the starting QB.
