It is now official. According to the Carolina Panthers official Twitter page, they have listed quarterback Cam Newton inactive for Sunday's 2014 NFL Week 1 opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Newton has been dealing with a rib injury. The Panthers feel it's more safe to give him another week to recover instead of taking the risk of him getting re-injured.
