Giancarlo Stanton could be on his way to having the biggest contract in professional sports history.
According to Fox Sports, the Miami Marlins and Stanton are discussing a deal worth $300 million. The contract will run over 10 years, and it will trump Miguel Cabrera's 10-year, $292 million deal he signed with the Detroit Tigers last year.
Stanton's representatives also have discussed shorter contracts with the Marlins, and the mere fact that the sides continue to talk is a sign of progress, sources say.
This will be huge if the 25-year-old gets this deal done.
