Sad news coming out of California, as it has been reported that former NBA player Jackson Vroman died on Monday after tripping, hitting his head and falling into a pool where he drowned. He was only 34 years old.

His friend Dan Bilzerian, a professional poker player, posted this on Twitter:

He added: 'One of my best friends passed away today, everyone who knew him loved him, Godspeed my brother.'

Vroman was the 31st overall pick of the 2004 NBA Draft, and he's reportedly very good friends with San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush and music star Justin Bieber.

Bush wrote this in honor of Vroman:

He wrote: 'Love you bro I miss you already can't believe your [sic] gone I pray that God has mercy on your soul at the gates of Heaven and we meet again in the after life!

'I promise to continue our vision of Beach Volleyball Thursday's in your honor and I thank God for allowing me to spend time with you on your final days on earth!

'RIP JAX aka The Gentle Giant.'

Vroman had a very successful college career, leading to his selection by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 2004 draft. The American-Lebanese forward also played with the New Orleans Hornets from 2004-05 until having a professional career overseas up to 2014.

NBA teams offered their condolences to Vroman:

The Suns posted a statement on Twitter which read: 'We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Jackson Vroman. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.'

The New Orleans Pelicans also wrote: 'The Pelicans are deeply saddened by the news of Jackson Vroman’s passing. Our condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.'

The Lebanese basketball team initially and wrongly reported he was in a car crash. The current cause of death for Vroman is unknown, but an autopsy is scheduled for later this week, the Daily Mail writes.

It's very sad news. R.I.P.
