It’s less than a week to the July 15 deadline for Justin Houston and the Kansas City Chiefs to reach a long-term deal.

Houston is looking for a big time extension, one that Jason Cole of Bleacher Report reporting is in the $100 million range that Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt received.

The Chiefs missed an opportunity to sign Houston to a contract extension in the neighborhood of five-years, $57.5 million prior to the start of the 2014 regular season.

Houston had a career season at the perfect time: in his contract year, leading the NFL in sacks with 22.
