Trent Richardson appears to be on his last legs in the NFL, and his career could end sometime in the next few weeks if the former No. 3 overall pick doesn’t step it up.

Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle did a mini training camp preview, and reported that third-year running back Latavius Murray is in line to start, while Richardson has failed to impress thus far.

“Latavius Murray will get every chance to be the lead running back as whispers are that the Trent Richardson reclamation project is not going so well,” Tafur wrote.

Richardson has averaged 3.3 yards per carry over his career, while struggling to show any kind of burst or elite vision to help separate himself.
