Michael Vick finally admitted what we all knew.

After playing good teammate all of last season with the New York Jets, Vick admitted to the Associated Press that he kind of checked out once he realized he wouldn’t get the opportunity to challenge Geno Smith.

“I admit that I didn’t do it as well as I wanted to, because in my mind the position I was in was supposed to be different,” Vick said. “But I think you’ve got to accept it first. I think I’ve been able to do that and come to grips with it, and my role is clear.”

In Pittsburgh, there will nothing close to a quarterback controversy.

Ben Roethlisberger is an established star with two Super Bowl rings who just signed a $100 million deal. The one opportunity Vick had to establish himself in New York was a disaster, with Vick admitting he never prepared.
