The NFL’s concussion protocol is always a huge topic among current and former players. Will Smith and Sony will shine a light on the issue in a major way.

In “Concussion,” Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, a doctor from Nigeria who specializes in neuropathology and difficult autopsies.

After performing autopsies on several dead Pittsburgh Steelers players, Omalu tried to convince the NFL of the dangers of football and the seriousness of brain trauma.

The NFL has not commented on the release of Concussion.
