The journey is almost complete, and deservedly so as Brandon Austin is working out with the Philadelphia 76ers this week.

According to NBA sources, his effort to officially begin his NBA career has been sped up by a secret arbitration ruling that benefits players who have faced sex assault or domestic violence allegations, according to sources familiar with the ruling.

According to ESPN.com’s Zach Lowe, Austin—who faced sexual assault allegations at Providence College and the University of Oregon, but was never charged with a crime—now has a better chance of signing with an NBA team since it’s been determined he won’t face punishment upon signing a contract.

The 6-foot-7 point guard and former Imhotep star had a pre-draft workout with the Sixers last summer as well.
