The Connecticut Huskies men’s basketball program could be back. Dan Hurley has been named the men’s basketball coach at UConn, the school announced Thursday.

Hurley, who will be introduced at a Friday news conference, received a six-year deal and will be paid $2.75 million in the first season, the school said.

In the statement announcing his hiring, Hurley said he was “honored and excited” to become the new men’s basketball coach.
“This program, which is part of one of the top public universities in the country, has a championship history and wonderful support from a passionate fan base. I look forward to continuing this proud tradition."
Hurley will bring assistant Tom Moore, who was an assistant under Jim Calhoun at UConn, with him.
