During the Los Angeles Lakers' win over the Golden State Warriors last night, Andrew Bynum as we all know was benched after taking a clueless three-point attempt in the third quarter. Bynum only played five minutes for the entire second half.

However, head coach Mike Brown stands by his substitution of his star center.

"I'm going to coach the team how I think I need to coach it. It's as simple as that," Brown said Wednesday after practice in El Segundo. "If I feel like I need to make a sub, then I'll make a sub. If I feel like we're not getting production from certain guys out on the floor -- production the right way -- then I'll make a change. I don't think it's any more complicated than that."

Bynum caught the ball at the top of the key and shot the ball, which missed badly and hit the right side of the rim. Josh McRoberts would then come in for him.

"That's something that I felt could have taken us out of rhythm, and so that's why I took him out of the game," Brown said Tuesday of Bynum's ill-timed 3-point shot. "I brought him back for a little bit and then I took him out again and I just felt it was best to go with the group that we had out there."

Just a few days ago, Brown was heavily criticized for benching Kobe Bryant against the Memphis Grizzlies, a game in which they ended up losing.

Bynum is currently averaging 18 points and twelve rebounds per game.
