New York Daily News
This new age of social media and on the minute-reporting can make life difficult for those who have embarrassing blunders or unfortunate moments on television.

It took New York Giants rookie running back David Wilson just a few hours after his debut Wednesday night to figure that out.

On the second carry of his NFL career, Wilson fumbled after being thumped nicely by Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.

Wilson was visibly upset after he came off the field. He was met by his running backs coach Jerald Ingram and teammate Osi Umenyiora. Wilson was given a pep talk, a pat on the back, and never saw the field again.

Moments after that, Twitter and other social media sites blew up with the news that Wilson was seen crying after that fumble. News spread like wildfire, and will social media makes it history.

The New York Post reports Wilson is now speaking on the matter and says he was “upset” but not crying.

“Nah, I wasn’t crying, but I was definitely upset,’’ Wilson said yesterday. “But, I think it would have been a lot worse if I was smiling or feeling good about it. I am passionate about the game, and I know that is something I have been working on and not wanting to do, and for it to happen on my second carry in the opening game, I was highly disappointed."

I’m not one to speak on the matter myself. I’ve seen several different views of photos and video, and I honestly can’t tell. Being a former athlete, I can understand the frustrations of making a huge mistake or costing your team dearly. Honestly it can make you want to cry yes.

Was David Wilson crying? Only he knows.
