Giants Sign Four Players: George Wrighster (TE), Kelvin Smith (LB), Shaun Bodiford (WR), and Allen Patrick (RB).
The Giants signed a handful of players. From Saturday through yesterday, they signed a total of four players, according to the transactions report. Let’s start with George Wrighster.
Wrighster (above), who spent his last five years with the Jaguars (2003-2008), was released a while ago and is now a member of the 2007 Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Wrighster can be a great mentor to Kevin Boss and Michael Matthews, or he can actually be a starter. Wrighster has 94 cathces for 850 yards and nine touchdowns in his career, and he looks to add more if he stays with Giants. Now to Kelvin Smith.
Smith (left), who was released from the Miami Dolphins a while ago, looks to become a backup linebacker with the Giants. He could also be a starter if he proves himself big.
He actually can. He’s got the genes, being a nephew of Titans’ Keith Bulluck, he can actually be a pretty good linebacker!
After being named The Sporting News Big East Freshman and third-team Freshman All-American in 2003 at Syracuse, he could bring it on to the NFL. Right now, he only has one career tackle. Now to Shaun Bodiford.
Bodiford (above, running with the ball with the white jersey), can be a great receiver to the Giants. Coming out of a small college, Portland State, Bodiford has yet to stay with a team for more than two years! After being named to the All Big Sky team in 2005 in college, he went on to the NFL Draft, being undrafted but later getting signed by the Detroit Lions.
Then that year, he was released and went on to the Packers. Then he was released by the Packers and went to the Redskins. Then he got released by the Redskins and came back to Green Bay, later getting released. All of that happened in 2006-2007. Then in 2008, he was out of football. He came back and is now trying to make a name for himself wit New York.
With the Giants, let’s hope he makes the squad. They mostly might use him as a handy kick/punt returner. He only has one catch for 13 yards in his career so far but will add to that hopefully soon. Now to Allen Patrick.
Allen Patrick (above), was a star at Oklahoma but never reached his stardom in the NFL, being drafted by the Ravens in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was then released and then went on to the Browns. Released again, he is now on the Giants.
He looks to become the third-string back, behind Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. With him, there could also be a new Earth, Wind, and Fire combination. He could also be a kick returner, as he was in high school. Let’s just see how this man does!
Bergeron has played for three leagues: NFL, AFL, AFL2, and WIFL. He might not do anything with the Falcons but he was on the practice squad in 2006, and he may do it this year. I wish him all the best!
Teams Interested
ESPN has reported that the New York Jets are interested in Adam Jones. Wow! First Plaxico Burress, and now Adam Jones! But he could help. He can be a starting corner like he was with the ‘Boys. Let’s see how Pacman will do if he made it.
But it won’t matter, he will get suspended. Unless, if he learned his lesson!
The Vikings are interested in Brett Favre, the Vikes president reports. Guess what’s going to happen? The Vikings will beat the best team in the league and go to an 8-3 record. Then they will go 9-7, after Favre’s countless interceptions and lead the Vikes to a 1-4 record in last four games of the season. See what’s going to happen?
Okay, just kidding. It could happen, though. Let’s hope he doesn’t mess up the Vikes like he did with the Jets. He could be pretty good. I predict about 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, because the Vikes got a great running game.
The Titans have reported that they are interested in Drew Bennett. He will bring back the roots to Tennessee. I predict about 50-70 catches and about 700-1,000 yards. Probably, he would have two-to-six touchdowns. But there is one thing for sure, he will definently help out the passing game.
So that is the NFL Update! More updates coming soon!
