Written by Krishna DhaniESPN.com reports that first-round draft pick Aaron Curry has signed a six-year $60M contract with $34M guaranteed.
This is one of the richest contract in history for a rookie that does not play the position of a quarterback.
Curry was one the first to be the first-round pick from Wake Forest.
The thing that is a concern, though, is that he has missed the first eight days of training camp practice.
With the signing of this linebacker the Seattle Seahawks have done, six other first-round pick rookies with different teams have yet to be signed.
"I am just as excited to be out here and just to see the emotion from the fans and get back with my team is just an amazing feeling," Curry told ESPN.
The Seattle Seahawks have saved a special spot for Curry in the starting lineup.
They have expected him to be lined up with Leroy Hill and three-time Pro Bowler Lofa Tatupu during the regular season.
Curry has also made more money than last year's fourth overall pick, which would be Darren McFadden, who made $26M last year.
On Curry's first play in training camp, he was matched up with tight end Cameron Morrah.
While they were against each other, a fan in the background sarcastically said, "Welcome to the NFL."
"He wasn't in there with the first group just because he's got so much catching up to do," Coach Jim Mora said. "I don't know at what point we'll make the switch and he'll start running out there with the first defense, but I think it will be pretty soon."
Let's just hope that Curry can just be happy and stay that way with his contract, and continue to be better at what he is doing.
