NFL.com reports that wide receiver Roddy White has signed a six-year $50M extension with the Atlanta Falcons.

The new contract will replace his old one.

This former first-round draft pick wanted a long-term deal.

In this case, it looks like he got what he wanted.

He also has eliminated the chance of being a restricted free-agent in 2010.

White has a career-best of 88 receptions for a franchise-record of 1,382 yards last season.

He had earned his first Pro Bowl appearance while he was becoming one of the first Falcon wide receivers in a decade to have post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

The Falcons were also one of the first teams in history to have a back-to-back 1,200 yard seasons as well.

"We're always going to be an organization that rewards players that are productive on the field and good citizens off it," General manager Thomas Dimitroff said.' "We're glad to have Roddy's contract situation resolved. We look forward to a long association with him."

This will also be a great opportunity for White as he will be putting on a show through possibly 2014 in a Falcons uniform.
