According to the Associated Press, the Charlotte Bobcats are now down to three candidates to be their new head coach for next season.

Those three coaches, according to a person familiar with the situation, are Jerry Sloan, Brian Shaw, and Quin Snyder.

Sloan served as the head coach for the Utah Jazz for 19 seasons before stepping down in 2011. He didn't coach at all this season, but the 70-year-old is looking to go back on the court and coach.

As for Shaw, he almost became the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers before they made the surprising move to get Mike Brown instead. Shaw is currently an assistant with the Indiana Pacers. He is also rumored to coach the Orlando Magic. Owner Michael Jordan will meet with Shaw sometime this week while Sloan already did this week.

Snyder has been the most surprising finalist left out of everybody. He served as the head man of player development for the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Lakers. He also coached the Austin Toros for three years in the D-League. He was also head coach of Missouri from 1999-2006 and an assistant at Duke in 1993 along with the Clippers after that.

The previous candidates for the job were GM Rich Cho and president of basketball operations Rod Higgins. Coaches who were eliminated for consideration were Orlando assistant Patrick Ewing, Charlotte assistant Stephen Silas, former Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan, Golden State assistant Michael Malone, Memphis assistant Dave Joerger and St. John’s University assistant Mike Dunlap.

ESPN has also reported that the Bobcats cut down the candidates from 10 to three.

Personally, I think the coach should be Sloan. He is the best man for the job as he will be able to get this team turned around and together. It also seems like Jordan would have a better relationship with Sloan than with the other two.

We'll see what happens soon of who the Bobcats will pick.
