Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema has announced via Twitter that Maryland transfer, Danny O'Brien, will start at quarterback for the Badgers' season opener against Northern Iowa.

O'Brien, who transferred to Wisconsin from Maryland in June, threw for 2,438 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2010, winning ACC Rookie of the Year honors.

He graduated from Maryland in May and became eligible immediately at Wisconsin, similar to Russell Wilson, who transferred from NC State. Wilson went on to lead the Badgers to a Big Ten title, while gaining first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2011.

The Big Ten Leaders division is truly the Badgers division to lose, especially since Ohio State and Penn State are banned from post season play. The Badgers are ranked No. 12 in the AP poll and USA Today Coaches Poll.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.
