New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis prevented Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson from escaping Revis island Sunday in Week 1 in a 48-28 victory.

However, he also suffered a mild concussion after being kicked in the head by linebacker Bart Scott yesterday.

The New York Post reported that Jets coaches did not think Revis had a concussion, and allowed him to return to the game after initially leaving.

Revis will not be cleared to play until he passes a battery of test. Head coach Rex Ryan will leave that up to the medical staff.

“I’ll always lean on our trainers and our doctors,” Ryan said. “With any injury at all, but especially a head injury of any kind, you’re going to err on the side of caution. We’ll see how he progresses during the week.”

The Jets have a huge matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers in a nationally televised game next Sunday night. Pittsburgh can ill afford to fall to 0-2.
