Athletes Respond to the George Zimmerman Verdict

George-Zimmerman-VerdictAlmost everyone tweeted their reactions to the George Zimmerman verdict of being not guilty, writing on Twitter that they were shocked. Many compared it to the Casey Anthony trial, and some even to the O.J. Simpson one, which was regarded as "the trial of the century."

Much of the sports world reacted, with some athletes making extremely controversial tweets.

Here were all the tweets the sports world and athletes had on Twitter to the George Zimmerman verdict.

Roddy White

The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver caught a lot of flak for writing this after the verdict:

White later apologized:

The New York Giants wide receiver tweeted this, predicting that Zimmerman will get murdered before he reaches the year 2014:

A little controversial here by the Cincinnati Bengals outside linebacker:

Stevie Johnson

The Buffalo Bills wide receiver tweeted what many had in mind last night:

Jonathan Vilma

The New Orleans Saints linebacker had the best tweet and advice in response to the George Zimmerman verdict:

Michael Vick

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has gone through the most when it comes to police blotter.

Vick spent two years in jail for killing dogs and was forced to go bankrupt. He could have easily mentioned all of this in part to blame the justice system for letting Zimmerman free, but the 32-year-old took the right route with this tweet:

In conclusion, most of the sports world was shocked. But let's remember the real story here: a boy innocently died, in my opinion. I believe Zimmerman should have been guilty, but there just wasn't enough evidence to support that.

With that, Zimmerman is a free man who got away with murder. Who knows what he will be up to next.

But with all that, wish the Martin family the best, that is all.
