Geno Atkins is an absolute beast at defensive tackle, and wants to be paid as such.
Atkins, who arguably is the best 4-3 defensive tackle in football, has one year and $1.42 million remaining on the rookie contract he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.
After locking up Carlos Dunlap to a long term deal, the Bengals and Atkins would like to get a deal done sooner than later, NFL.com reports.
The two sides have been engaged in talks for weeks in an attempt to get a deal done.
Atkins had 53 tackles last season, including 12.5 sacks, with the Bengals last season.
