Geno-Smith-Mark-Sanchez-New-York-Jets-August-2013

Geno Smith’s time has arrived.

Amid reports that he wasn’t in the best of shape, Smith is now starting to prove the naysayers wrong.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that Smith is almost a lock to win the New York Jets starting quarterback job as long as his play doesn’t drop off.

Mehta is reporting that Smith looked sharp in a scrimmage, and should land the job.

Through seven practices and a scrimmage, Smith reportedly has been pretty solid, completing 39-of-68 passes (57-percent) and thrown for three touchdowns and not a single interception.

Mark Sanchez, meanwhile, has showed signs of struggling and has thrown more than enough of picks to show that Smith is the better QB right now. In fact, Sanchez was getting booed by Jets fans at the recent practices.

It looks like Smith's hard work paid off, and being a second-round pick won't be so bad after all for him.
