Everett Golson may not be with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be working to get better.

Golson, who of course will miss the season and a year of school after being expelled in May, will spend two months working with quarterback coach George Whitfield in San Diego this fall, head coach Brian Kelly tells CSN Chicago.

Whitfield, who runs a quarterback training facility in San Diego, has tutored the likes of Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger and most recently Johnny Manziel.

After working with Whitfield, the plan is for Golson to return to Notre Dame around Thanksgiving to begin preparing for his return to school. Then, the Irish will have him return to the team for the 2014 season when he’ll still have two years of eligibility left.
