fa322b23fd6b3500480f6a7067009ed7Auburn running back Tre Mason will be leaving college early, as the Tigers star has announced he will be going pro and will enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

Auburn University made the announcement on Twitter today:

Mason was exceptional during his junior season, having 1,816 yards rushing with 23 touchdowns. Mason also averaged 5.7 yards per carry.

He also played great when Auburn needed him the most, such as his 304 yards in the SEC title game or his 195 against Florida State in the BCS title game.

Mason hopes to get drafted in the first round, as the NFL is moving more and more towards passing on the offense all the time.

Last year, there were zero running backs taken in the first round. Trent Richardson is the only running back to be taken higher than the 28th overall pick in the first round of the past three NFL Drafts.

If things go like the past three drafts have, expect Mason to be a late first-rounder or an early-to-mid second-rounder then.
