erik swoope miami 2014It looks like the Indianapolis Colts are trying to get their own Jimmy Graham or Antonio Gates. The team signed former Miami Hurricanes basketball player Erik Swoope on Sunday to play tight end.

Swoope, who is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, played as a forward for four years with the Hurricanes. He has never played organized football before. He started in 27 of the 110 games he played in Miami.

Swoope's athleticism was what led the Colts to sign him. They hope he can turn out like Gates was, who ended up becoming arguably one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history with the San Diego Chargers.

Swoope was signed as one of the 19 undrafted free agents by the Colts on Sunday. Good luck to him, and let's hope he can make the team and become a story like Gates, Graham, Tony Gonzalez, Julius Thomas and others.
