teddy bridgewater may 2014The Minnesota Vikings drafted quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is the final pick of the first round in the 2014 NFL Draft. With the pick, does it make Bridgewater the starter right away at QB for the Vikes? Not so fast, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

"Teddy will play when we feel like he's ready, if he's the best guy, which we hope that he will be," coach Mike Zimmer said, via the Star Tribune. "We always want to have competition."

With Zimmer's comments, it looks like it will be Bridgewater and Matt Cassel battling for the starting job.

It's no surprise that there will be competition. Blake Bortles, who was selected 29 spots ahead of Bridgewater by the Jacksonville Jaguars, is expected to be benched for his rookie season in favor of Chad Henne.

However, that's just the Jags. For Minnesota, I expect Bridgewater to end up winning the job once the regular season begins.
