peyton manning golf may 2014

Peyton Manning is one of the more avid golfers in the NFL, and the Denver Broncos quarterback used that tool to help know some of his new teammates a bit more as well as mentor them.

Manning reportedly requested that rookie wide receiver Cody Latimer, new free agent receiver Emmanuel Sanders and rookie offensive tackle Michael Schofield to play a round of golf with him in a foursome. These three will be important to Manning and his offense this season, and he wanted to get to know them so he can mesh with them for the upcoming season. What better tool than a round of golf?

“They told me I was already taken, that No. 18 had asked for me,” Latimer said, via USA Today.

Latimer, the rookie out of Indiana University, says he never played golf before, so he got to learn more than just football from No. 18.

“It was just an honor that he wanted to get to know me,” Latimer said. “And then he also taught me how to play golf. He didn’t know till we got there that I had never golfed.”

Latimer looks like he's going to be playing a pretty big role for the Denver offense. Expect him to be the No. 3 or 4 receiver with Sanders, as he will be getting his share of catches from Manning.

Anyways, great stuff from Peyton here. A true leader.
