Pau Gasol July 2014

Some good news for Chicago Bulls fans as Pau Gasol has announced that he will join the franchise during NBA free agency.

Gasol was coming close to a decision. The free agent power forward announced he will be heading to the Windy City to play for the Bulls.

There were talks of a sign-and-trade the Los Angeles Lakers would do with the Bulls regarding Gasol, but it appears that the veteran big man will sign with Chicago outright now.

Gasol was reportedly offered a two-year, $20 million deal from the Lakers today, but he turned it down. He reportedly considered it an insult since Jordan Hill would be making almost the same salary as him.

We'll see what kind of deal Gasol gets, but it will likely involve having the Bulls trying to get rid of Carlos Boozer first. Unless if they have traded him, they are more than likely to amensty him then with his insane $16.8 million salary.

Gasol will be a significant upgrade over Boozer, and at a much cheaper price. He's also one of the best passing big men in the league, so he should fit right in with center Joakim Noah in the frontcourt.

Looking at this team on paper, especially if Derrick Rose returns back to form with no injuries, this Bulls team looks like the favorites in the Eastern Conference.
